Self-Launching Erection Device (SLED)
CTE designed this erection equipment for specialty contractor and equipment supplier Schwager Davis Inc. SDI supplied SLEDS for four work headings to a joint venture led by Kiewit Pacific Co.
We performed extensive layout studies to ensure that the equipment would function in every situation, followed by structural design, risk mitigation and mechanical interface. SDI designed the mechanical components.These SLEDs are capable of erecting 750 ton segments in under one hour. After the segment is secured, the SLED can launch itself to the next lifting position. A total of 452 segments were erected.
